The Real Thing

Hee hee...I couldn't resist. Here is Siena using the ACTUAL coozy...and yes she put her drink in it herself ;-) It was just water, I promise.

Fun at the Museum

Went with a few friends to the Museum of Life and Science in Durham. We had an absolute blast!
Crystal watching Siena blow bubbles...

Here are a couple pics of Siena and Ava playing in the tornado area...

Both Siena and Ava loved the maze criss-crossing on the ceiling and walls where the older kids could throw balls down...

Here is a video of Siena really enjoying the ball coming down the wall...

Kari and Ethan are taking it all in. Ethan can't wait to play too!!
Overall it was a really nice morning ;-) Can't wait to go back again!

Anyone Want a Pinecone?

No? Really? Are you sure??

Coozie or Just Being Creative?

When Siena and I were playing in the back yard she decided to use one of her play cups as...hmmm...a coozie of sorts. (For those of you that don't know what a coozie is, it is typically a foamy-like object designed to wrap around a drinking bottle/can of some sort. Usually an alcoholic drink but I have seen them used for non as well) It is probably bad or evil of me to mention the word "coozie" and that she most likely was using this seemingly innocent sour cream container as a cup holder to be funny or creative. Siena doesn't even know what a coozie is.
I still prefer to call it as I see it ;-)

Chalk Days of Summer

There are so many things that a 17 mt old finds fascinating...bubbles, water, dog food, and stuffed objects, just to name a few. Siena's newest attention grabber is chalk. She LOVES it. Anyhow, anywhere she can get her hands on it, she will sit and scribble forever. Either that or she colors her hair with it. This, BOTH, she and I get a kick out of ;-)
Here are some pics of Siena loving her chalk:

One of my favorite pictures...

I love catching Siena when she is looking particularly thoughtful or (more often) when she is making a funny face. Here she was looking outside for the dogs because she wanted them to come back inside:

Ambidextrous...or just confused?

Siena decided she needed, not one, but 2 spoons for her dinner this evening. Little did I know she just didn't know which hand she wanted to eat with...so she ate with BOTH ;-) She literally took alternating bites with both spoons.

As Promised...

Siena's fish face has been CAPTURED!! ...along with the baby sign for 'cold' but that was just a bonus ;-)

Going Shopping?

Siena: "Bye bye..." {big grin}
Kelly: " Where are you going Siena?"
Siena: "BYE, BYE!" {getting irritated because I didn't provide the exact reaction she wanted to her declaration}
Kelly: "Ok, well, see you later. Bye bye!"

Siena proudly walks off with her 'bags' into the kitchen...I think I laughed for about 10 full minutes.

Siena's New Couch and WHAT?!?

Nick loves to buy Siena fun things to play with. He actually hasn't gotten much of a chance to buy her too many things because...well, she has a LOT of stuff ;-) One day while I was at work Nick bought Siena a couch - yes, I did just say a couch. Anyone who knows me knows I am not much into "character" toys for Siena yet...she is so young, she doesn't know who these people are, and I guess I just get annoyed at shameless marketing targeted at kids...but that's not the point of this post ;-) So the couch - its a hot pink couch with a huge Dora the Explorer and her monkey (???) with large pieces of fruit scattered throughout... basically if babies had some baby acid that they could take, this is what they would see.

oh did I mention it FOLDS OUT? It does.

After seeing Siena with this baby crack couch, I completely realize why Nick bought it...she LOVES the freakin' thing. Siena now has her nightly bedtime story on this nightmare inducing couch...oh wait, those are MY nightmares ;-) I am far too picky...I know.

The very next day (Sunday) I had to work a night shift. Usually before my first night shift I sleep for about 3-4 hours in the evening. I went to sleep at 1:30PM leaving Nick and Siena to have another Daddy/daughter fun day but when I woke up no one was home. I looked around the house, in the back yard and then finally to the driveway to see if Nick's car was there. Gone.

RIIIING, RIIIIIING, RIIIIING......
N: Hey Kel, you up?
K: Yeah, where are you guys?
N: Well, heh heh, we are at Petsmart....I may or may not have just bought a fish tank!! Siena loves it, I let her pick out the tank, all the plants, the stone for the middle, and gravel...
K: {you can hear the crickets chirping} oh...ok, how big?
N: 60 gallons, its a great tank
K: ok...how much?
N: {this part has been deleted for obvious reason}
K: WHAT?!

Fast forward to the tank set up, in our kitchen, after much debate about where the tank should go in the 20 minutes I had before I had to go to work. This was a stressful ordeal but I definitely like the tank. I cannot lie. I like to sit in front of it with my morning "caffeine of choice" and watch the fish before Siena gets up. Its relaxing. Grrrr....I have even picked out some fish for the tank and bought them myself. I hate to admit it but the humongous, space-taking, messy, one-more-thing-to-take-care-of, fishtank is actually kind of nice.

Yes, I have admitted that to Nick...he has caught me on too many occasions drinking my tea in front of the thing. Siena, is also enamoured with it. It's now her job to feed them every morning (with some help since the tank stands about 5 feet) and she asks to do it as soon as she wakes up in the morning. She makes "fish faces" now (I WILL catch it on video one of these days!!) and we surprised Nick with that new development this morning...it's really cute.

So, Nick is certainly 2 for 2 with the couch and the fish tank. Siena LOVES both of them very much. I have to give credit where it's due. However, I am not sure how many more weekend night shifts I am going to be taking.... ;-)

Getting Siena Ready for Baby

I have a lot of friends who have recently had babies and since we have our own arrival coming somewhat soon I thought it would be a great idea to expose Siena to some *little* babies. (Also, I love hanging out with my friends - who needs any other excuse than that??). Here are a couple of pics from one visit - we had a great time...

Siena trying to figure out who our visitor was

Who do we have here??

How Far Siena Has Come...

So, I was looking at some old videos today taken back in early April, 2007 when Siena was not even 2 months old. Its so amazing how far she has come in such a short (it feels like) period of time. Take a peek at this cute video of me trying to get her to smile for the camera:

and here is a new video of my "little" girl talking away for the camera and being silly, of course...

Laughing Siena

This video is so funny, I could not resist to post it. I had another video posted boasting Siena's growing vocabulary but the file was too large to post. Here is another video, taken today, of Siena and I being goofy at dinner time. It made me laugh so much. I hope it makes you all laugh too!!

Visit to MA

Siena and I went to MA for a week to visit family, friends, and so I could go to a friends wedding. Nick came in for the wkd. It was a quick week...too quick as usual but we had a great time. Here are "just a few" pictures from our trip.
